Pastor Dr. Leah E. White, M. Th, D.Min. 

Educational Background

· Rev. Dr. Leah E. White, a native Baltimorean, is the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Mary Antoinette Phillips and Bro. James L. Mosley. She is a product of Baltimore City Public Schools. In addition, Dr. White has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Morgan State University, a Master of Science Degree from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Theology Degree from Saint Mary’s Seminary and University and an earned Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Her doctoral thesis was “From Hurting to Healing: A Ministry Model for African American Women in Urban Communities” which addressed the needs of women who have been victims of rape, incest, molestation, abandonment, rejection and alienation.

· Pastor White has preached, lectured and conducted retreats, workshops, Leadership Training, Institutes and seminars across the nation, in the islands and in Germany. She has served as a columnist for several magazines and been awarded numerous awards and citations. She has been featured in Who’s Who in Black America, Sister to Sister, Devotions for and from African American Women, edited by Dr. Suzan D. Johnson (Judson Press, Valley Forge, Pa. 1995) Sister to Sister Volume 2 edited by Dr. Linda Hollies, Women of Color Study Bible by Nia Publishing and more recently in the new Aspire: The New Women of Color Study Bible: For Strength& Inspiration, by Zondervan Publishing.

Dr. White was formerly an educator, serving in the Baltimore City Public Schools, the Maryland State Department of Education and the New Psalmist Christian School under the pastorate of Dr. Walter S. Thomas. Dr. White served as Administrator at New Psalmist from its inception until she retired to devote her attention full time to the growth of Greater Faith Baptist Church. During the thirteen years that she served on the New Psalmist staff, the school became the largest fully accredited African-American school in the State. In addition to being the school administrator, she also served as staff liaison for Outreach Ministries and Women’s Bible Study and Spiritual Growth Instructor.

· On February 28, 1998, Dr. White lead her congregation as they marched from a store front located at 2000 E. Chase Street to their new 300 seat sanctuary in the Remington Community of Baltimore, Maryland. Since Pastor White was called to Remnant Baptist Church in March, 1994, the congregation has grown spiritually, numerically and economically. · Additionally, Dr. White serves as Founder and Ministry Leader of Sisters in Ministry, Founder and Director of Urbane Community Corporation, the Maryland State Director of Women’s Ministry for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, Executive Board of Kingdom Association of Covenant Pastors (KACP) and a Board of Directors Member of Jewel House Incorporated.

Family Information

Pastor White’s joy is in praising the Lord. She is determined to let the scripture live in her. “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praises shall continually be in my mouth.” Pastor White is married to Deacon Russell E. White of Cardinal, Virginia. They are the proud Parents of one son, Minister Jeffrey, his lovely wife, Minister Donna and their two children, Jeff Jr. and Dominique.
